I’m alive…

Well, I’m alive…

Figured I’d state that since I’ve been “off the grid” for a while. Not because I don’t value social media or a good content marketing strategy. More so because, in many ways, I’ve been going through a mid-life crisis.

Not personally, family is great & so many blessings. And not because of an employer either. I’ve worked with incredible leaders at incredible companies.

But sometimes you just get that itch. For me, it started in 2023. The itch to build, create, stretch, grow. Almost like God was saying: I didn’t create you to be comfortable.

So, at the end of 2024, when everything on paper said not to, I stepped away from an amazing company, team, and clients. I essentially stepped off the rocket ship, even while it was still soaring.

It wasn’t the easy road, but it was the road I needed to walk. A big part of my decision came from a calling to “serve who I used to be.” As Brand Builders Group says, “You’re most powerfully positioned to serve the person you used to be.” There's a lot of truth in that.

You see, over the last 7 years, I've supported individuals with: six-figure keynote fees, New York Times Bestselling books, viral TED talks, huge online platforms, and 7 (and even 8) figure lifestyle businesses - which is really hard to create when so much of the business is based on a single person. Again, these are amazing people that are truly experts at what they do. But, they aren't who I used to be.

Prior to starting Brand Builders Group in 2018, I wasn’t a paid speaker or author. I was an expert trying to grow something bigger than me. I was doing “personal brand” activities, but as an employee, a leader, a partner, inside larger organizations.

And that's who I'm focused on serving now. Helping to build more influential organizations by building more influential employees.

I'd like to say that I'll be posting regularly sharing insights on how do to this, but we all know what happens after I say that. I won't. So, I'll post when I have something valuable to share and hopefully it's helpful.

In the meantime: when was the last time you scratched the itch and stepped out in faith professionally? Did it work out? Was it easier or harder than you expected? Do you regret it?

And please — tell the truth. We don't need to hear your career highlight reel.
